We offer shared care services with General Practitioners (GPs) and Psychologists offering.

GP Programs and Seminars

We advocate mental health awareness and teaching. We continue to conduct a variety of educational workshops through small didactic group participation.

We have led GP seminars in collaboration with RACGP helping to facilitate GP's with better interventions for mental health and build skills based strategies in field of mental health. These have been well received by GP's over the years by their active participation and being involved in shared care model enhancing mental health outcomes.

The motives of such seminars are:

  • To encourage active engagement and communication with GP's in maintaining continuity of care
  • Assist in handling challenging settings and confidentiality
  • To leverage evidence based treatments in patient care
  • Build GP confidence given they remain the primary carers and
  • Provide support to GP's with problems solving skills and accessibility to services

These learning seminars do attract CPD points through RACGP and help with professional development.

The GP seminars have address the following topics:

  • Dementia and depression
  • Mood disorders in child bearing age
  • Self harm a challenging condition
  • PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Medications and obesity
  • Adolescent mental health
  • Making decisions and boundary of confidentiality

Telehealth

Telehealth is a government-initiated programme to provide better access to quality care, education, support and ongoing management to improve patient care through video link. This gives accessibility for patient to seek specialist services and improve their wellbeing.

Eligibility

  • Elderly people who are unable to attend appointments due to limitations
  • Geographically isolated areas including remote and rural areas
  • Outer metropolitan areas

Referral process and procedure

  • A GP in eligible area needs to make a referral to our practice for consultations
  • Discuss with your GP first for eligibility criteria
  • Referral includes basic personal details and Medicare / DVA details so that we can contact you. We also prefer your email address for further communication
  • Consultations are either conducted in your GP practice or own environment
  • An appointment time will be allocated to you by our clinic
  • All cancellations need 24 hours advance notice either by phone or email in line with our cancellation policy.(See Fees and Charges)

Initiation of session

  • Need access to laptop or iPad or tablet with microphone and camera
  • Need to install Skype which can be download and installed on your iPad, laptop or tablet for free
  • Call our clinic to make an appointment for telehealth session. Additional information may be requested from you.
  • A trial run with our staff prior to appointment can be undertaken.

Sessions

  • Consent information and confidentiality discussed
  • Initial assessment involves background information, current concerns and personal information
  • Recommendations and discussion about options of treatment offered and liaised with your GP through an assessment letter
  • Confidentiality is maintained. However, it may be necessary to discuss and share the matter with your GP and other professionals involved in your care.
  • Follow up sessions arranged to work in team approach to facilitate recovery

Fees and Charges

  • This service is eligible for Medicare rebates and there is no out of pocket expense.

Medico-legal

Medico-legal Assessments

We have accredited work impairment assessor who can provide Independent Medical Examination (IME) reports to insurance companies and law firms. We also provide Motor Accident Impairment (MAS) reports for third party and law firms.

We have had extended experience working with a various reputed Law firms in providing these services.

Fees and charges for these services are as per the guidelines prescribed by Work Cover.

We can provide other services, namely

  • Section 32 reports
  • Medico legal reports for Law Firms, Legal aid and Family Court disputes. All our reports are independent and unbiased
  • Expert Witness in court. This requires pre booking and is subject to availability.

These services incur a fee, which is not reimbursed through Medicare.

Work Cover and other assessments

Work Cover Assessment

Our psychiatrists and psychologists are accredited by the Work Cover Authority of the NSW as Assessors of Whole Person Impairment (WPI).

We undertake work cover assessments offering range of services including:

  • Initial consultation
  • Treatment
  • Take part in teleconference and injury management plan
  • Providing work cover certificates and assessing fitness to work, and
  • Shared care with GP's for continuation of treatment

For this process to start an initial approval by the insurance is mandatory and claim details sent to our office via email or fax. Following the initial assessment a report is forwarded to the insurance seeking approval for further sessions.

There is no out of pocket expenses unless insurer has not provided prior approvals.

Guardianship Tribunal and Testamentary capacity

We provide reports for tribunal and psychological assessment for testamentary capacity.

These services incur a fee, which cannot be reimbursed through Medicare and are charged at rates proposed by Australian Medical Association (AMA).

Employment Assessment

This service incurs a fee, which is not reimbursed through Medicare.

Police Department Suitability

This service incurs a fee, which is not reimbursed through Medicare.

Department of Defence

This service incurs a fee, which is not reimbursed through Medicare.
